I've personally responded to a few of these flash fires as a firefighter. Even if everything works correctly, once a meth lab has been discovered, it is considered a hazardous materials situation and only specially trained technicians are allowed to contain it and clean it up. Also, many fire departments have standard operating procedures in place that state that if they are attacking a fire and determine it is the result of a meth lab, the situation is so hazardous, the team is to exit immediately and cease all interior operations - including rescue. What this means is that if your friend is in a building where a meth lab accident occurs - there may not be anyone coming to save him.
