Some of the chemicals used in the manufacture of meth are toxic by inhalation. However, perhaps the most hazardous step is when the mixture is breaking down in ether (highly flammable) and is being heated. It’s a rather explosive combination. I’ve personally responded to a few of these flash fires as a firefighter.

Even if everything works correctly, once a meth lab has been discovered, it is considered a hazardous materials situation and only specially trained technicians are allowed to contain it and clean it up.

Also, many fire departments have standard operating procedures in place that state that if they are attacking a fire and determine it is the result of a meth lab, the situation is so hazardous, the team is to exit immediately and cease all interior operations – including rescue. What this means is that if your friend is in a building where a meth lab accident occurs – there may not be anyone coming to save him. They’ll just pull the body out later, after the scene is deemed safe.

I don’t know for sure, but I do know one of the ingredients is ethyl ether which is highly flammable, and that itself would scare me out of wanting to know any more about it.

From my understanding its not the “procedures” exactly, its more of the fact that you have to mix chemicals that are combustible/flammable together, and well most people mixing meth are most likely doing it, so you get extremely combustile/flammable chemicals plus someone whose high on meth…. not usually a good combination.

It involves cooking a mixture over a flame with solvents that are flammable (and highly toxic). If you don’t properly ventilate the area, an explosion is likely. If not an explosion, you could easily asphyxiate. Plus, if someone like me catches you doing that in my neighborhood, the likelihood of being shot is extremely high.

I think your friend is either too stupid, or too greedy and evil to live. Let them kill themselves. Tell them you can’t be their friend any more because you cannot be friends with someone with such severe problems.
